French Toast with Zespri® SunGold Kiwifruit Sauce
Start the morning with sunshine with this brilliantly easy and yummy Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit sauce!
Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit Sauce INGREDIENTS
- 2 Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1 tbsp honey
French Toast INGREDIENTS
- 3 eggs
- 300 ml milk
- ¼ tsp salt
- 2 tsp sugar
- 4 slices wholemeal bread*, cut into triangles
- 2 tbsp butter
*Best if bread is 2 days old as fresh bread won’t absorb the egg mixture well.
Makes 4 servings.
Combine Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit and honey together in a small food processor and whiz for a few seconds until smooth. Pour into a small bowl or jug and keep refrigerated until ready to serve.
To make French toast, beat eggs, milk, salt and sugar together until well combined. Dip bread slices (a few at a time) until well-soaked in the mixture.
Heat a heavy-based frying pan on medium heat and melt a tablespoon of butter in it. Lay the bread slices (well-spaced apart) on the frying pan and cook each side till golden brown (about 3 – 4 minutes per side). Remove onto a serving plate.
Heat remaining tablespoon of butter and fry the remaining bread as above. Serve warm with Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit sauce.
